En el Centro de Arte Complutense c arte c, se inauguró ayer la exposición The Nature Spirit, Arte textil contemporáneo japonés. Se presentan 16 obras que reflejan la visión de cada artista sobre la naturaleza, en torno a conceptos y fenómenos naturales como el sol, la lluvia, la vida, el bosque, etc. Está hasta el 15 de enero 2012 y encontraréis toda la información (sobre la expo y también sobre talleres, conferencias y demás actividades relacionadas con el Encuentro con Japón) en este enlace.

The exhibition The Nature Spirit, Contemporary Japanese Textile Art, was inaugurated yesterday in the Complutense Art Center 'c arte c' in Madrid. 16 works are presented, reflecting each artist's vision of Nature around concepts or natural phenomena such as Rain, Earth, Life, Clouds, etc. It's on until 15th January 2012 and you'll find plenty of information about it on this page (in English) and on this one (in Spanish but with photos of all the works).

L'exposition The Nature Spirit, art textile contemporain japonais, a été inaugurée hier au Centre d'Art Complutense c arte c, à Madrid. 16 œuvres sont présentées, reflétant la vision de chaque artiste sur la nature, autour de concepts ou phénomènes naturels comme le soleil, la montagne, la pluie, la vie, etc. C'est jusqu'au 15 janvier 2012, c'est très beau et on trouvera toutes les informations nécessaires (en espagnol, mais avec des photos de toutes les œuvres) sur ce lien.

For some reason certain contemporary art works seem to me to really suit an idea one has of Japan and the Japanese (sorry about generalising)!

Everything here, at least in the photos, seems light and airy, feathery, charming, harmonious. Fun but I take them seriously! Maybe because they are the descendants of Hokusai et al!

Hello Warren, yes I see what you mean and I agree, although as you say, difficult to generalize, but I often come across contemporary japanese art that I like very much. Do you remember that piano by Chiharu Shiota? (23 Nov here)
