Xavier Mellery, la escalera, 1889Quedan pocos días para ver la exposición "La sombra": termina el 17 de mayo. Hace unas semanas, había hablado de una parte de esta muestra, que vi en la fundación Caja Madrid. La otra parte se puede ver en el museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, y están reunidas obras que van desde el siglo XV hasta el siglo XIX. Por ejemplo, unos cuadros del pintor francés Édouard Vuillard que me gusta mucho, o curiosas pinturas del belga Xavier Mellery.
There are only a few days left to see the exhibition "Shadows": it ends on the 17th May. A few weeks ago I talked about one part of the exhibition that I had seen in the Fundacion Caja Madrid. The other part takes place in the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and it shows paintings from the 15th century to the 19th. For example, some paintings by the French artist Edouard Vuillard that I like very much, and some by the Belgian symbolist painter Xavier Mellery.
Il ne reste que quelques jours pour voir l'exposition "L'ombre": elle finit le 17 mai. Il y a quelques semaines, j'ai parlé ici d'une partie de l'exposition qui a lieu à la Fondation Caja Madrid. L'autre partie se trouve au musée Thyssen-Bornemisza et on peut y voir des oeuvres du XVème au XIXème siècle. Par exemple, des peintures d'Édouard Vuillard, que j'aime beaucoup, et des étranges tableaux du peintre belge Xavier Mellery.

I like comparing the extremes in these two paintings ... the warmth and cosy comfort of the first and the rather stark chilliness of the second.
It is wonderful to discover a new name and I love stairs, backstairs maybe here, which these could be. I am drawn to these painters each giving a glimpse of their world.
Son dos pintores que no conozco y que me los apunto, para más adelante poner algún post, ya que me parecen muy buenos, el primero por esa luminosidad tan especial en juego con las sombras y el segundo por el tratamiento tan bello de la escalera. Lástima que no pueda verlos al natural. Besos.
I agree with you Warren. I think Xavier Mellery's paintings are really interesting, there is a sort of strange atmosphere in them, strange and appealing.
Clariana, me alegro que te gusten estos pintores. A Xavier Mellery no le conocía antes de ver la exposición y me impresionaron sus cuadros. Vuillard me encanta, también me gustaría ver más obras suyas al natural. Tiene una manera de jugar con los colores, las luces y las telas estampadas que me deja maravillada!
Habrá que pasarse por allí :) No suelo ir mucho al Thyssen, me pasa igual que con El Prado, las colas para entrar me echan atrás.

Hola Paco, no sé si es una impresión mía pero me parece que hay menos cola en el Thyssen que en el Prado. Me gusta mucho este museo, qué pena que no tenga un día a la semana con entrada gratis. Lo harán para la noche de los museos creo, pero claro que entonces no quiero imaginar las colas...
El Día de los Museos es el peor día para ir a uno.
Imagino que lo sabrás, el Reina Sofía es gratis los sábados a partir de las 14:30.

Ayer la estuve viendo , es magnífica .!!!
Me gustó mucho " Dos mujeres bajo la lámpara " de Éduard Vuillard...
Luego caminé hacia el Prado y ví "La Magdalena penitente " de Georges de la Tour...me sentí un poco en mi París amado ...También vi una de las pinturas que me transportan ..." "Sol ardiente de Junio "en la muestra "La Bella Durmiente " ...
